Restrictions on visiting hours lifted at city centre hospitals

BRISTOL'S city centre hospitals have removed restrictions on visiting times after an outbreak of a winter sickness bug.

Visitors to Bristol Royal Infirmary and Bristol General Hospital had been restricted to one hour a day due to norovirus. But from today they have reverted to usual visiting hours of 2-3pm and 6.30-8pm.

All affected wards at hospitals run by University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust have been deep cleaned and re-opened, although one bay remains closed.

Christine Perry, the trust's director of infection prevention and control, urged visitors to stay away if they have suffered diarrhoea and vomiting in the previous 48 hours, to prevent a return of the virus.
