A NEW community networking site has been launched in Bristol with the aim of promoting local discussion and strengthening neighbourhood ties.

Streetclub.co.uk, launched by B&Q, is described as a local community networking tool which gives neighbours a safe, controllable and convenient way to stay in touch with the people and issues which affect the most important place in their lives.

The site focuses on homes and the neighbourhood by providing tools to start local discussions and make local recommendations for changes.

Features include the ability to set up groups in order to plan local events, keep track of local news, swap helpful tips and advice and even save money by buying together.

Each club comes with its own privacy settings and flexible club structure with neighbours free to get involved as much or as little as they want.

John Compton, Streetclub Manager, said: "We see neighbourhoods as an extension of the home and so feel this is a natural place for B&Q to make a positive contribution. Streetclub will provide neighbours with an easy way to feel more connected with their communities and help build a sense of local pride, which ultimately benefits everyone.

I am thrilled that the event this weekend was such a success and it's fantastic to see people as young as Archie and Malakai getting involved in DIY."
