TESCO have won over the planners and the councillors yet again (the Post October 11).
No thought to the shops already in Hanham or the residents.
Tesco say they are creating 160 new jobs when, in reality, they are taking them from local independent shops. Those independents will close within five years of Tesco opening, as has been shown in similar situations and many proprietors, who have worked for the local people for many years will see their business values plummet.
Hanham will become a High Street of takeaways, betting shops and charity shops. Well done the council.
One of the reasons I will be closing my last independent fashion business, Christine Peters, in Staple Hill next year.
